The 2nd Annual Lake Lyle Fishing Derby - Jan 26, 2002

It's that time again. We're going to have the 2nd Annual Lake Lyle Ice Fishing Derby. As most of you have heard, the winter-kill of 2001 claimed almost all the huge, beautiful perch from Lake Lyle. However, it didn't take them all! The summer minnow net netted numerous small perch and plenty of minnows, so we are not completely dead in the water. This unfortunate call of mother nature has forced our hands into a slight deviation of last year's format. So read the following rules carefully.....
* This year we will fish Lake Lyle for a few hours and then move the action over to Lake Randy.... located just to the south of Lake Lyle.
* We will open the derby on Lake Lyle from 9:00 to 12:00. All fish caught on this lake and during this time frame, will earn DOUBLE scale weight.
* At noon, we will move the derby to Lake Randy. A great big thanks goes out to Randy & Sandy Parkin's for allowing us access to their lake and fish. They kept the Annual Lake Lyle Perch Derby going this year!
* This derby is an INVITATIONAL, meaning NO BUDDIES OF BUDDIES. No new people. All fishermen must be pre-approved.
* Early scouting reports have indicated an abundance of smaller fish, so the format this year will be "..catch, weigh, and release the small ones" & "..catch and save the big ones". We will have one of Huron's finest patrolling the area with a scale and scoring sheet, the "throw-backs" will be surrendered to the official and weighed, recorded, and released. Your "keepers" will be weighed at the Lodge following the close of the derby. These two weights will then be added together to establish your total derby weight. good luck.
* New this year! You may have one of your fish tagged prior to release for only 2.00. The official will record the weight, length, catch & release date, and its given name. This information will be kept in the Lake Lyle files for eternity and you will be notified if he/she ever gets caught again.
* Reminder, the legal possession limit of perch in Codington County is 10 - use your head.
* 2 fishermen per team with a maximum of 4 lines per fisherman.
* Shotgun Start time at 9:00am and 12:00pm from the Lodge.
* Shotgun Ending at 12:00 and 4:00pm.
* Entry fee will be $10.00 per person and NO 12pack of Old Mill Light is REQUIRED this year .
* Live fish only. Better have a bucket. Cheaters will be pounded & booted from further ll.com events!
* Weights will be based on 2 Man Teams. 2/3 weight if 3-man team. 3 man-teams are discouraged.
* Payouts are as follows:
* First place team gets $50.00 and names on the trophy
* Second place team gets $30.00.
* Third place team gets $20.00.
* 20% of the entry fees will go to the following funds:

* First Walleye is worth 10.00.
