The fall of 2004 and spring of 2005 were very dry periods in the history of Lake Lyle.  The hot dry weather taxed the plummeting depths of the Lake.  Early scouting reports reported near disaster results - it was a disaster as the 2005 ice derby had to be canceled.  Water levels remain very low in 2006 also.
