Lake Lyle Cabin # D4

As many of you already know, we have acquired a 12x28 cabin from Kampeska Lodge.  One day I just happened to be in the Lodge and Doris asked if I would be interested in one of their cabins.  It only took us one look to realize this little bungalow had plenty of character built right into it and would fit our needs perfectly.  However, we do anticipate this undertaking to consume many hours & dollars to complete.  We have developed this web page to keep you informed of our progress. 

Major Lylestones of this project:

On Aug 25th, 2001  the three-some of Lake Lyle, Russ, and Chuck took on the task of lifting her up and moving her out.  Steve Peterson of Florence, furnished the stack mover to load and move it.

On Sept 8th, 2001  we had the annual Lake Lyle Muffle drawing and used this gathering and workforce to pour a cement foundation. 

On Sept 15th, 2001 the three-some of Lake Lyle, Dave and Ricky Grace moved it onto its foundation and anchored it in place.

On Sept 20th, 2001 T-Bone, the big brown cow, pops his head into cabin and shares a beer with Lyle of Lake Lyle.

On Sept 21st, 2001 T-Bone enjoys another beer with Lyle of.

On Sept 28th & 29th, 2001 the cabin's first overnight occupants spent the night. This honor goes out to Dave and Rick Grace. 

On June 22nd, 2002 the three-some of Lyle of, Dick and Ricky trenched power out to the cabin - we got power now,  says Scotty.

On Aug 10th, 2002 Lyle of takes on the back room and kitchen area - removes ceiling and rafters, runs new wiring, and insulates walls & ceiling. 

On Aug 24th, 2002 the back section is close to complete and the front area begins its make-over.

On Sept 15th, 2002 Lyle of and Dick Decker finish the walls and ceilings.

On Sept 21st, 2002 Lyle of and Ricky finish the floor and hook up the outlets.

On May 25th, 2003 Lyle of, Ricky, Dick, and David trench a water line from house to cabin.

Why, we even did a full day's work before the muffle started. Here Dick puts the finishing touch to the cement slab for LL cabin.

Oh, Ricky helped too.  The banners were used to keep the cows out.

No smoking allowed in the cabin (yet ) so Ricky takes a smoke break.

Here's a shot of the fireplace mantle ( minus the fireplace ) we'll get it back.

And looking to the west, we have a captain's memory etched in glass.

And thar she is!  Ain't too pretty but she's all mine....

Now for the remodel project.............

In June of 2002, Dick, Ricky and Lyle of trenched some power out to D4.

First step was to work on the back room and kitchen area - here's the wiring job.

Next, the ceiling had to come down. Left pic is looking from kitchen area back, and the right pic is looking from kitchen to front.

After the rafters were removed, the insulation & vapor barrier goes up.

Finish arf the back ceiling in pine & wall with sheetrock. She's starting to look like something!

With the back area almost done, work moves to the front half - insulate, vapor, & sheetrock.

After the sheetrock comes the taping.

...and after taping comes the texturizing.

Job well done and time fer a brew.

Time to lay a floor down.

Ricky puts the final touch on the wiring.

...She's done, now Diane's turn to put the finishing touches on it.

..all the comforts of home.
